Legit Professional Fakebook 2nd edition

Post by trombonerdrew » Sat Jun 07, 2014 6:41 pm

I'm trying to find this book, and I've book looking on every website for the physical book but it seems to be out of print. Can anyone give me any distinguishing features about the book other then it has 1256 songs? Or can anyone lead me in the right direction on how to procure this book?

The original is also out of print, I didn't know there was a 2nd edition.

Phil, the one you indexed seems to be the second edition, the book I have is about 200 songs short of the one you indexed

This Legit is a very misterious book :-)
Phil's index has 1256 titles (as appears in the book index page) and contains two songs that my copy does not have: all the things you are, all shook up (I noticed just those, maybe some more)

the strange thing is that Phil's index fit my copy at 100% ..
let me show:
when I hit "all the things you are" in the book index, iGig goes to page 14 for the Legit..
at page 14 my copy has three titles: Aloha waltz, Angela, A Tisket
if i search any of these titles, the book index goes rightly to tha page.

it seems that Phil's index has. four titles at page 14 , or I cannot explain that in other way.
obviously these songs (all the things and all shook up) do not appears in the main index (those scanned at the first pages of the pdf)

my copy does not have an edition number too
so..

Phil, do you have these songs in your copy, or are just "ghost songs" also for you?
more, if All Shook Up is really a ghost song, maybe Elvis still live? :-)

This is probably because the book you have is called "Original Legal Musicians Fake Book" which has 1017 songs, while the "Legit Professional Fake Book" has 1256 songs.

"All The Things You Are" and "All Shook Up" shouldn't be in that index and have been removed. Thanks for pointing that out cesare!

thanks for fixing Phil

I noticed that Elvis is a Ghost in that book, maybe the same misunderstanding with this index happened with
Hound Dog
Can't Help Falling in Love
Love me Tender
Jailhouse Rock
Don't be Cruel
Blue Suede Shoes

and and outsider Heartbraker

we could start a contest with prize for finding Legit's ghost songs.. ;-)
bye

The "King" sometimes has an uncanny way of making his presence known. :D

This index seems to be combined with another from some strange reason, still working on it...

Phil,

I checked and my book really is The Legit Professional Fake Book but it is missing some songs. For example the song Always something there to remind me, is not in my book. On the top of that page (page 17) Is the song please don't leave me by Fats Domino, but underneath it is Aloha-Oe which matches up properly in the index. Most of the songs in my book match up to your index, but it has a few different songs in the place of other songs in your index. My book has 480 pages
