Great Gig Book?

Post by DocDosco » Fri Apr 22, 2016 8:15 pm

I don't see it listed. As it is arguably the most complete single fake book of standards w/lyrics, with good changes, with a chunk of seasonal and ethic tunes and a fair section on instrumental jazz, I wonder why it isn't included? Or am I seeing an old list?

Just like to add.... Surprisingly, many players are unaware of this book.

This is a online PDF reader that shows the index of tunes and pages of charts.

This link covers why we don't have an index for that book:

There is a user that has created an index for this book and is willing to share it:

That makes sense. I have several different PDFs of the GGB. As this is my main book, I had 4 printed copies made. Some of the versions are scanned poorly. I do have a copy that is much better, prepared very neatly. All of the different PDF versions floating about these days (3?) do have all the same pages missing it appears.

The reason for the odd page numbering was that originally they were going to expand the book and they left space to do it. On the better copy I have it is professionally printed and scanned and appears to be the last effort from 1996.

Thanks for the contact....
