transposing and shared indexes

Post by andyf58 » Thu May 19, 2016 11:08 am

have followed instructions found here (approx 2011/12 I think) and tried to join up classic real book concert (crealbk1.pdf)and Bb (crealbk1_bb.pdf).
1. crealbk1 loaded ok and indexed ok. so e.g. 'A Foggy Day' is in the book's list and also searchable as a song.
2. i then loaded crealbk1_bb.pdf. it loaded but still appears in unindexed scores even after refresh.
3. if I then go into the concert pitch book, I now get the transposing option for Bb in ' A Foggy Day', but that takes me to 'Afro Blue' (Bb version) instead of 'A Foggy Day'. I thought these joint indexes were searched up?
4. If I try to join crealbk1_bb.pdf to an index, there is not a classic real book (1) option available - presumably because it is taken?
5. It is hard to know which index to choose as they show names only, not the codes as well.

2. Yes, it is supposed to still appear in My Scores.

3. Each book must have the same number of pages before the first song and the pages must be in the correct order. Your Bb book seems to not have the same number of pages as the concert book.

4. There's no index for crealbk1_bb.pdf other than the one for the Classic Real Book 5th Ed and you need to use the Single Index System.

5. If you're referring to the pop up list of index that you can link to, it's designed to be easier so you don't have to think about what the book code is.

Thanks for prompt reply.

So I am thinking about Offset. if I change the offset of the C book that messes up the main index. There doesn't seem to be an option to change the offset of the Bb or Eb as they are still unindexed scores rather than books.

As the offsets are different across various books, does that mean they are stored in the PDFs somewhere and can I alter them there - or is it all done in the, igigbook loading? If not possible, can I try adding or removing pages from the PDFs? Thanks.

The concert book is fine, you don't need to do anything with that. Your Bb book is the problem, it has a different number of pages prior to the first song with is "A Call For All Demons". You need a tool that's going to allow you to add or remove pages from the front of your Bb book, you first need to determine how many pages there are before the first song in the concert book and the Bb book. This is easy to do...

For the concert book, select "A Call For All Demons" at the top it will indicate what physical page that is, also note that in the upper right corner of the chart itself is the number 1. The physical page number (top status bar) - Number at upper right of the chart = offset.

For the Bb book, open it up from the My Scores view. You will be at physical page 1, tap at the bottom until you get to "A Call For All Demons". Do the math from above.

Great, all worked thank you. For anyone else with similar issues, I used goodreader v4.12.1 on an iPad to add or remove leading pages from the books.
