missing index

Post by photoastro » Tue Dec 18, 2012 9:06 pm

I've been using iGigbook for well over a year and have had few problems with it. However, I just upgraded to iTunes 11.0.1 and now have a problem with my set lists. I last used iGigbook on a job two days ago and all was fine. I upgraded yesterday and used iGigbook again tonight on a gig.
One of my index books (557 Standards) now no longer shows up in any of my set lists. They all say "orphaned song entry" for any song that was in the "557 Standards" book. However, that book is still in my book list view and works normally from there. In addition I can add one of the orphaned songs back to the set list and it correctly shows the song as being from the 557 Standards book and will display the new entry of the song.
Is there any way to correct this globally rather than having to delete the orphaned songs and re-enter them one by one into each set list. The 557 Standards book is one of my most used resources and I have nearly a hundred set lists for various singers and performances that all use many songs from the 557 Standards book. It will be a daunting task to repair all of these set lists manually.
This same behavior also happens with both the "Jazz 1200 Transpose" and the dynamic "Chords Charts that Transpose" lists. They are both in my Book View and work perfectly but now no longer work in any previous set list.
As I mentioned, this behavior started after upgrading to iTunes 11.0.1. I am running iPad OS 5.1.1 and iGigbook version 1.77. I have not updated my iPad to OS 6.x in order to not lose my Google Maps app in lieu of the Apple map app.
I also have a long standing problem (pre iTunes 11.0) in which I can not rename a song in the My Songs list. I can rename the song and it will appear to be correctly renamed. However, once I shut down iGigbook and reopen it, the old name always reappears. This is not a huge problem but is annoying.
Let me know about the 557 Standards issue. I would really like to fix it if possible as I am playing many gigs in the next two weeks and the iPad and iGigbook are my only source of music on these gigs. I no longer carry any back up fake books at all.

Thanks,
Burt Whicker

If the app was working fine and then you connected it to a new version of iTunes and then it wasn't working usually means that iTunes has restored some program data from some earlier time. What I recommend is that you specifically back up the iGigBook documents folder by actually copy the files from that folder to a folder on your hard drive and that way you know exactly what you're backing up and what you are restoring. Syncing with the iGigBook server may solve your problem.

Phil,
Fortunately I often back up my iGigbook content to my computer as you described so I have a recent back up. I tried restoring the individual sets from my most recent back up but that did not help. The "557 Standards" book and both the Jazz Chords that Transpose listings (the online and offline versions) still do not show up in the set lists. I still get "orphaned song entry" flags for each of those songs.
Any other suggestions. I need to get this fixed by tomorrow night if possible as I have a gig with the band at that time.
Thanks
Burt

Are you saying that you pressed the sync button at the upper right of the Book List view and you're still seeing orphaned song entries? Why don't you email me the set list, you can easily do this with version 1.77 using the share set list feature select "No" to "Include Songs As PDF Attachment?". I'll PM you the address to send to.

Phil,
Yes, I tried to sync in the Book View several times. I also unloaded iGigbook from the iPad memory queue and tried restarting the iPad from scratch. Those three book indexes are clearly there in book view and work normally in all aspects of the program except the existing sets that contained entries from those books.
I sent several set lists to you via email but those are probably not the problem ones. I sent those by saving them from iGigbook to my desktop from within iTunes. I'm going to send a second set directly from the app as you suggested.
Sorry about the confusion and duplication.
Burt
