Book List View Sports A Fresh New Look!

You now have the option of viewing the Book List as text or as icons of the first page of the PDF. A new setting has been added called "Show Book List As Icons".

This setting is on by default, but if you're having problems with the app loading, you can switch this setting off. You must completely remove the app from memory, this isn't the same as uninstalling. Rebooting your device does not remove the app from memory you must explicitly remove it from the suspended apps by flicking it up.

Do not uninstall and reinstall the app, that is not going to solve the problem.

Double tap the home key
Flick iGigBook up to remove it from the suspended apps tray, also remove any other apps that are suspended.
Go to the settings app and turn ON "Show Book List As Icons"

Can't find how to get the icon view. I have updated igigbook to the latest version through the app store, but I can only view the text list. No icons.

Try completely exiting out of the app (Not Uninstalling).

This version crashes out for me on my iPad2 running iOS 7.

I get the splash screen, then it disappears completely. Double-clicking the home button to display the task list shows it in the list, with a thumbnail of the old Book List view, but tapping on that doesn't bring the program up. If I completely exit the program, by swiping up in the task list, the same thing still happens the next time I try and run it. I have also completely powered the iPad off and on, with no change.

I went into settings and turned off the icon view, but that didn't help either; the behaviour persists.

So at the moment, iGigBook is completely unusable for me. The previous version was fine.

Is there a way I can revert to the previous version while you work out how to fix this issue?

.ipa file for version earlier than 2.65?

Post by TonyMountifield » Mon Jan 19, 2015 12:06 pm

Does anyone have a .ipa file for a version of iGigBook earlier than the 2.65 that came out in the last couple of days?

The 2.65 version crashes out on my iPad (already reported), and I'd like to downgrade via iTunes so that I can get a working version again while the issue gets fixed (hopefully).

Thanks!
Tony

Turning off "Show Book List As Icons" with the app not loaded i.e. not in the suspended items list and not running, should bring the app up with the old view.

What you can do is the following:

Back up your iGigBook Documents Folder.
Uninstall the app
Reinstall the app - don't run it.
Set "Show Book List As Icons" to off.
Run the app

What you can do is the following:

Back up your iGigBook Documents Folder.
Uninstall the app
Reinstall the app - don't run it.
Set "Show Book List As Icons" to off.
Run the app
I did all the above. After reinstalling and changing settings, I could then run the app and it came up correctly.

Unfortunately, as soon as I added my books back into the documents folder using iTunes, the crashing behaviour returned.

Note that I also have some of my own PDFs in the document folder, not just standard books that iGigBook will know about. Could that be the problem? Unchecked NULL pointer dereference when there is no matching icon for a PDF?

I haven't yet tried repeating the above and adding only standard books to start with. It would be nice not to have to!

I like the new Icon View! It's working fine for me on my iPad Air 2 running iOS 8.1.2 - It looks cool. Thanks for the update.

iGigBook generates an icon by pulling the first page of the PDF file. When no PDF files exists for an index you will see the stock icon "PDF Not Preset".

I would try adding your books back one at a time until you find the one that is causing the problem.
