How To Get Version 2.65 To Load - REVISED

We have a fix for the problem of the app not loading already submitted to Apple and are waiting for them to review and approve it. In the meantime there is a way to get the app to load that doesn't involve you uninstalling the app, removing your content or indexes. The first thing to do is to double tap the home key and if you see iGigBook in the suspended app tray, swipe it up to remove it from that tray.

Method 1:

Using a computer not your device, follow these steps:
  • Access my.igigbook.com from your device and select Latest News
  • Select the link titled: "iGigBook 2.65 Open", and iGigBook should open in the Set List Manager view
Method 2:

Email yourself a single PDF file to an account that you can access from your device. Open this PDF in iGigBook and iGigBook should open in the My Scores view.


You will have access to everything in the app with the exception of the Book List view which may or may not cause the app to close. If you do try to access the Book List view and it does close, the app will open again in the Gig Set Viewer. If you're going to experiment with accessing the Book List view, I would ENABLE "Show Book List As Icons".

FYI, I did this, but the app still crashes upon launch.

How do I open the file in iGigbook? I have it in my email app on the iPad, but there is no way to direct iGigbook to open it from there. What am I missing?

Edit: I also tried storing the file to my Dropbox account, and attempting to open it from there, but iGigbook is not among the apps that can open it. Next, I tried to open a single pdf in iGigbook, in this case one that was stored on my Dropbox account, since I couldn't perform that action within the mail program. That didn't work either. I still get the same crash.

When you email yourself the ".igbset" file, pressing and holding the attachment should result in a list of apps that you can open the attachment with. At the very least that list should be the Mail app and iGigBook. If you don't see iGigBook in this list, this is an indicator to me that you have bigger problems i.e. the app isn't installed correctly.

Both of the methods provided involve the use of the Mail app with two different types of attachments.

IGigbook is not shown in the list of apps that will open it from the mail app. However, I did essentially the same thing by attempting to open the file from another source i.e. Drobbox on my iPad. The.xml file doesn't bring up iGigbook in the list of openable apps, although a single pdf does. Opening the pdf in iGigbook still results in the same crash.

Has anyone else been able to get this to work on an iPad2, OS 7.1.1?

Try accessing my.igigbook.com from your device and select Latest News! from the menu. Tap on the link titled "iGigBook 2.65 Open". You should see a screen that has 'Open in..' on the left and 'Open In "IGigBook"' on the right. if you do not see this your app may not be installed properly.

Ok, did that. Same thing. It caused iGigbook to open for a second before the usual crash.

I once again deleted and reinstalled the app to see if I could determine at what point it fails. I didn't copy any books or any other files to it. It runs up until the point where I log in and it syncs the book indexes. After that, if the app is turned off, that is, swiped out of the "suspended" tray, it won't run again.

Honestly, I think I'm though wasting my time with this. Anybody want to buy an iPad?

Try working with it right now without logging in i.e. in guest mode and let me take a look at your index data.
