Thanks for the response, what I'm finding is that some songs across different fake books are giving me the "orphaned song entry" while they are very much in the fake books while most other songs seem to be ok when I set up setlists...I guess what I'm trying to find is a way to re-index various fake books so all songs are available for printing...Is there a secret command, besides checking and unchecking books in the my.igigbooks site that deals with cleaning out some of these messes...?
The only time that orphaned song entries occur is when the underlying PDF has been deleted or renamed.

Phil,
The underlying pdf’s have not been deleted or renamed as I’m able to assign some songs from them to the set list and they show up fine and others (from the same pdf) will give the orphaned bit...would you suggest deleting the entire pdf (Cuban fake book) and re-installing...I tried checking and unchecking on my.igigbook to no avail....
Thanks

I would try replacing the orphaned entries with entries from the book where you can see them. That means deleting or moving the orphaned entries using the Set List Manager prior to adding the PDF page you can view to the set.

I must be missing something:
  • Clicked to purchase Drawing Feature from Book List
  • Paid
  • Received verification
  • Synchronized
  • Verified payment with credit card company
Still no active feature

What did I do wrong? What remains?

If you clicked on "+$ Drawing Feature" this is what should have happened:

1. A popup with a Buy button appears

2. You pressing the popup button and waiting results in the screen going to the next level at which point the transaction is complete and the feature is enabled. You can select "Drawing Feature - Select this and start drawing" if you want and look at a help screen that describes what all of the icons do or do something else.

There's no need to synchronize after that, you haven't added any new indexes or changed any indexes that were activated or deactivated.

Except that the feature is not enabled. When I am looking at a chart, then click on the pencil tool, the message "You Can Purchase Score Drawing From The Book List View"

Try going back and repeat the steps I outlined. The system is designed so that you don't pay for the item twice.

Some observations, both about what I experienced and what confused me.

1. Took me a while to realize I had to re-sync the Book List. I hadn’t seen a mention of that from clicking the pencil, just that I’d be able to add the feature there.

2. It took a while for the purchase steps to go through, probably due to server delays. Then I got multiple purchase prompts. So users need to be patient.

3. When I first tried to use the drawing feature on my iPad Mini, iGigBook told me to rotate the display (into Landscape mode). That was surprising but it worked. However thereafter it wanted Portrait mode as expected. Something might be out of sync there.

4. I don’t see any way to zoom the display during pen/finger input. Without that capability, any notes I make are very large and imprecise. I can’t imagine finding much use for this feature as-is. Am I missing some way to expand the selection?

5. Formerly, when I searched for and displayed a tune from Set List view, I had the option of adding it to the current (or another) set list via a “+” button. Has that capability been removed?

Thanks for any input.

1. If you read the first post in this thread you would see that it specifically mentioned you need to sync for the option to appear in the Book List view for you to be able to make a purchase.

2. The process needs to talk to Apple Servers plus our own, it's not a process that happens instantly.

3. The source of your confusion is that some PDF files are designed to be viewed in landscape though the overwhelming number of PDFs are designed to be viewed in portrait.

4. No, currently there is no zoom, it will be available shortly but my personal feeling is that drawing with your fingers isn't something that people do in real life.

5. Take a careful look at the screen.

Thanks for the reply. I’m curious about your fourth point. How do you anticipate the drawing feature will be used — presumably with a stylus? Do you keep one on stage? If Apple had given us an easy way to stow a pencil on the device, I’d like this option, but I can’t think where I’d put one given my current setup. If there is a good solution that would keep it handy and avoid losing it, I’d love to hear about it. I stopped using a stylus long ago for this reason.

Thank you for explaining about PDF orientation, I didn’t realize iGigBook was sensitive to that. And thanks for revealing that the set list add icon has simply changed. That is a relief. (The segno looked like something related to audio play.) And I’ll be sure to read the pertinent forum threads in future before upgrading. I had simply proceeded with the info on the App Store and the in-app prompts.
