Constant crashing since new update - 06.25.14

Post by PeterWeddingPianist » Wed Jun 25, 2014 9:15 am

Since I downloaded the latest version of iGigBook (today), I am experiencing constant crashing whenever I try to open a song from Book List, My Scores, etc.
I tried iGigBook sync, but it did not help.
One thing I noticed since the update - a new, sepia image of some pencil writings on the left and part of a printed score page on the right has appeared when I open iGigBook. Then I get the book lists in Book List. I click on a book, then a song, then CRASH! The same thing happens in My Scores.
I'm really worried about this bug - I'm working tonight in less than 5 hours!!
Can you help, please?

After about an hour of leaving the app alone, I've come back and things seem to have settled down now. Could it be that the update 'had a lot to do' because I have a massive amount of titles in iGigBook now - almost 1500 songs? Does the update have to 'update' the whole of my data in the app? I don't really understand why it crashed all the time, right after I'd done the update.

What model iPad are you using and what version of iOS do you have on it?

Hi Phil,
I use iPad 4, ver. 7.1.1 (11D201), Model: MD512B/A.
I thought I had resolved the problem by closing all windows, of which there were many. But today, no apps/windows open at all and the problemm has reoccurred.
should I be getting this image I mentioned, just after I click the igigbook app? It only appears for a second, then the Book index page comes up. I click on a book, then click a title, then it crashes...time after time.
Help would be appreciated, as always.

Thanks for reply, Phil.
1.By the 'documents folder', do you mean the file that lists all my igigbook files?
2.When I reinstall, do I have to load all my songs back into iGigBook?
3.Do I have pay for the app again?
Thanks again.

OK, backup is complete. I assume all my set lists will be lost, or they stored somewhere in the documents file?

I uninstalled igigbook, reinstalled....no change. Igigbook refuses to open songs.
Any other suggestions or is it back to sheets for Peter?

We have an update that is currently in review which may correct this problem. If you have an iTunes backup that you can restore that will put you back to a prior version.

I have done some testing with the same model iPad as you and did a fresh install. The first time I attempted to access a chart from the Book List view, the app did crash but after starting it up again things seem to be working normally.

Yesterday, I took your advice and uninstalled iGigBook and then reinstalled. I was disappointed to see that on reloading all my files (1171), all my sets were lost, unless they're still lurking on my Mac somewhere. I was pleased though that all my 1000s of edits were retained.
So I went to work last night and iGigBook behaved itself for the whole of my 4 hour gig.
I had a big church wedding to play today, so I thought I'd take my Mac as a backup, just in case iGigBook failed again.
What a good job I did! IGigBook refused to open any songs, just like before. Also, it was no good thinking of a reinstall - no internet connection available at this isolated church. So I had to use my Mac which was just about adequate.
Now you are suggesting I uninstall/reinstall again, saying that I would be reinstalling an older, hopefully, more stable version this time. Is that correct?
I'm back at work in 4 hours, so if you can reply soon, I would appreciate it.
