With 128g capacity and 34g still unused with my system (ipad4) space shouldn't be the problem.
On my 16g ipad 2 I have 4g available.....
But both ipads spontaneously close without any apparent reason (backround refresh switched to off position, other apps turned off, ipad newly reseted , wlan off, bluetooth off....)
What else can I do?
Sincerely, Axel

After the reading this post yesterday, I turned every notification, badge, location, update, anything I could find to turn off, I turned off, cleared all the background applications, then powered down , fresh booted and went to the gig.

The iGigbook performed well all night, three hour gig, no spurious rebooting. I know a sample of one doesn't yield a very fine graph but...

Thinking about the music rebooting while your gigging is scary. Some tunes you'd get away with it, some situations you might be left in quite a pickle. Murphy bets for the former.

Axel, you may want to try some of the suggestions in this link:

I would like to add my voice to this thread. I can corroborate that my troubles also started with iOS 8.
I thought it was a memory problem with my 16GB iPad Air. I bought a new iPad Air 2 128GB as I needed more
memory anyway. The extra RAM I thought would solve the intermittent crashing. I think it is actually worse now.
The app was using about 1GB of memory as I had quite a few PDF's installed. I deleted all of them and only have the free transposable charts now. The intermittent crashing is a nightmare and I am convinced the problem is specific to the iPad.
I have the mobile version of the app for my iPhone and so far it seems to be stable. Having followed all of the suggested fixes including switching off WiFi, the iPad app is virtually unusable. Thankfully I have iReal Pro which is rock solid. I think the developer should determine a fix as we have all paid for the app and rely on it heavily at gigs. I have used it constantly at live gigs, and it is completely useless now. Is there a way of downloading the charts without having to use the app? Using the browser is not practical. An URGENT!!! fix is required. PLEASE!!!!!!!

We'd love to fix this problem, but we don't seem to be able to reproduce this behavior. We have left the app open for hours and it never closes, with background app refresh on or off. All we can suggest is that you update to the latest version of iOS 8 which is 8.1.2.

Already have. I always try to keep my devices up to date. Background refresh is off. I think that the app is sensitive to notifications, background refreshes, alerts, delivered emails. Switching everything is not practical. For a short time workaround perhaps. But I'm not sure if that is where the problem lies. As I said before, my mobile app works but my iPad app doesn't. Does that help in anyway?

I just aggree to the trouble caused by break down of iGig - I also switched to iRealPro, which never breaks down! (Breaking down of iGig at least forced me to learn all tunes by heart - that is the positive aspect of all the trouble...).

Using iPad4 with the latest updates and enough free space (32GB), iGigBook is not reliable anymore.
Since I use an iPad2 simultaenously which causes the same problem, I can't understand, that you never experience the same breakdown.

Breakdown of other apps, that also occured after the start of IOS 8.0 do not occur anymore since 8.1.2

Sincerely, Axel

Thanks for that info, however with an iPad 2 and the latest version of iOS the battery will drain before the app shuts down when viewing a PDF. Are you using iPad's with 3G? That would be the only difference between what we have and what you have.

What's the model number of you device?
