Gig Set Export

Post by Jerry K. » Mon Jan 02, 2017 1:05 pm

I created a PDF export using the share feature in the gig set viewer. Everything seems to have worked but the PDF file won't open on my IMac. I tried using mail drop and exporting to iCloud and both ways create a file PDF file that can't be opened. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

How big was the resulting PDF?

I am assuming I can open the exported file without the app. Is that correct?

57.4 mega bytes?

I think you have exceed the practical limits of this feature. It's not designed for the transfer of large PDF files which are the result of attempting to export a set list consisting a large number of entries. Most email clients won't accept an attachment of this size. If you export to Google Drive or Dropbox the upload will take a while.

Is this Android or iOS?

This is iOS. I did use the export to iCloud feature and it seemed to work very quickly, I just can't open the file.

Uploads usually don't work quickly, a sure sign that there was a problem. I would connect the device to iTunes and see if you can locate the PDF that was generated. It will be named set_xxxx.pdf where "xxxx" is the name of your set. Once you have the PDF you can push it to iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox, whatever.

Are there any plans to make the exported gig set pdf's smaller? The first time I used the feature I was shocked. 30 tunes did not seem like a large setlist, but the pdf is 121MB ! That's too large for google drive to scan for viruses among other things. It would be great if the pdf were are reasonable size. OK, maybe I can keep my list to 20 tunes, but that would still be crazy large.

There's an iOS limit on the size of an email attachment you can send. Try using export instead of trying to email the PDF.
