Crashes on setlist export

Post by jahstimpey » Fri Jan 06, 2017 4:28 pm

Since recently on my Ipad Air (ME987NF) I am no longer able to export setlists including the songs. I had no problem six months ago, exporting a 300 song (!) list for use on my laptop. I have the most recent version of ios installed.
Am I doing something wrong, are there hidden settings that I might have set incorrectly?
I thought it was the december update causing this, but the january update didn't help to fix it.
Isn't anyone else experiencing this problem?

I'm assuming this is the generation of a large PDF file? What version of iOS? Current iOS version is 10.2

10.2 it is. But smaller sets of no more than 30 songs cause crashes too. Point is that I already exported far larger files in the past

Are there any items in your set list with "Orphaned Song Entry" grayed out on the right? If yes, try removing them.

Edit: This probably won't make a difference since I'm able to export a 73 song set that has "Orphaned Song Entry" items. The issue must be a particular PDF that causing the problem. We'll investigate and it will take time.

No, I checked and rechecked. Even made a copy of my setlist and removed every song from My Scores, so, not belonging to any indexed books...
funny thing is, my 125 song selection frol the classic real book exports just nicely. So, a set from one book only works. That makes me wonder if there is one book that makes it crash. It's not the My Scores selection and probably not the classic real book. Which one? I do not know...

We've done some test with the same set list and PDF files on 4 different iPads.

iPad Pro iOS 10.2 - No Problem. (has 4x as much ram as an iPad Air)

iPad Air iOS 10.2 - Consistently crashes.

iPad 4 iOS 8 - No Problem. (has same amount of RAM as iPad Air)

iPad 2 iOS 9.3.5 - No Problem. (has half the amount of RAM as iPad Air)

iOS 10 has had some issues that we encountered, iOS 10.1.1 would cause the app to crash after viewing 20 or so pages. This was fixed in iOS 10.2 but issues still remain. You were probably able to do this without problem before your upgraded your iPad Air to iOS 10.

Thanks for following up on this. You must be right. IOS 10 has not been kind to the ipad air.
It's sad for the users, but for the developers as well. Yours is not the only great software that got (slightly) derailed by the changes in IOS.
Still, the main functionality, making setlists and being able to find, collect, sort and annotate songs, remains intact...
Thank you and I hope IOS is not going to further spoil an otherwise great app.
