HI. I went to sync my app and got a message that said:
Please purchase the software
I purchased the software years ago. I am a bit puzzled by this.

This is an App Store message which usually means that the Apple ID you are signed in with is not the one you used to purchase the app. You can ignore this message it relates to the free In App purchases "Free Jazz Chord Charts - Transpose".
