add songs on more than one page to sets

Post by aldan » Wed Oct 25, 2017 3:03 pm

When adding a tune (from a book) to a set, it doesn't know that the tune might be on 2 pages (or more...) and it won't allow to add the second page to the set, with the message that the tune is already in the set. Am I doing something wrong?

If you're viewing a PDF from My Scores and you advance to say page 9 there is no way that iGigBook is going to know what's on page 9, it could be a song or it could be a picture from a catalog. To achieve your goal you will need to create a bookmark which lets you define what page and the number of pages.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear enough, what I meant is that I created a set in iGigBook, then I went on to add songs from the library by searching for title. After adding, when calling the the songs from the set, it shows the page of the song originally added, it doesn't know that some songs are on 2 pages. So a click on the bottom right will go to the next song rather than next page of the song. Then, when going back and trying to add the second page to the set, it tells me that the song is already in the set. So I had to look what other song was on the second page (luckily there was one...) and add that to the set, then renamed it as "page 2".

I would suggest either an option to specify the number of pages when adding songs to sets, or, an enhancement of the "song is already in the set" dialog, to allow for adding more pages to one and the same song

thanks

If you select an item from the Book List view and it's a stock index the number of pages are known and when you tap at the bottom of the screen you go to the next page if the song has more than one page. There's no need for an option or enhancement, it already works that way.

What I'm not clear about is what you are actually doing. What song from what index are you referring to? Is this an index you created yourself?

It could be that I indexed the book myself... so you're saying that if a song continues on a second page, it should get a 2, even is there already is another song on that second page... It would make sense, I'll have to check how I did it

Yes, if you create an index and don't indicate the number of pages of each song by setting them all to 1 you are telling the app that every song is a single page and when you tab the bottom of the page you will go to the next song instead of the next page.

My particular example is from The Best Fake Book Ever 2nd edition, or "bestfbevr2", the song is Can You Feel the Love Tonight, on page 118, apparently whoever indexed that, didn't mark that the song is on 2 pages, while the same song from "Ultimate Pop/Rock Fake Book 4th ed", that I indexed myself, works as advertised. One more example of if you want it done right, do it yourself :-). The other one was Music of the Night, from This Is The Ultimate Fake Book- also not done my me, also not marked as 2-page song

So, mystery solved, thank you

Thanks for pointing that out, we can easily change the index to reflect the correct number of pages. Your post here is a great example of information that's clear and actionable. Thank you.
