Perceived Delay when opening songs.

Hello,

I recently observed a noticeable delay when opening a song in iGigBook. For me, it takes about 5 seconds after you click on the song title till the PDF shows up. I’m not saying that this is extremely long. It just seems longer that it used to be.

So now I’m trying to judge if I just have too much content. My current setup is 23 books with 4825 titles running on a Pixel C with Android 8.1. That seems like a lot and I would expect it to take a while to interact with that many titles.

This spawns a few questions ….

Is this considered “too” many books/titles?
Is 5 seconds a normal load time?
Are there any performance tweaks that you can recommend?

Thanks,
Dwayne

Five seconds is an eternity...

Using an old Nexus 7, PDF files display in less than 1 second on average. If you have a 1 or 2 page PDF that you're experiencing this problem with, email us a dropbox or google drive link that doesn't require a log in.

Actually, Its more of a global issue on all of the PDFs. Even the "standard" ones like the Real Books.

Any thoughts on the quantity of titles question? I'm still trying to determine if 4,825 titles is a lot.

As a test, I may disable some of the lesser used books and still if the response time improves.

Thanks,
Dwayne

Number of titles would have no or minimal effect. Sounds like you have a problem with your tablet, the Nexus 7 has way less computing power than what you're using. I would check what changes you made to your tablet prior to observing the noticeable delay.

Hi Phil...

So far, I haven't had any luck determining if another app is interfering with iGigbook and causing the slowness. :(

I was considering trying a re-install. Are there any articles on that for Android? (I did notice one for IOs).

Of course I'll back up the pdfs. Are there any other files that I should back up? Will it rebuild the necessary indexes and/or db files?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dwayne

You can uninstall and reinstall, you just need to log in after the reinstall. Files aren't deleted from the iGigBook folder when you uninstall an app when using Android.
