I Can not open app anymore on iPad Pro

Post by mpwolf » Tue Aug 28, 2018 8:03 pm

It worked for a few months on the Pro, now when I touch the icon, it takes me back to the general
home screen I get when I power up the pad. I've had the app on another iPad for a few years
without incident.

Any help would be appreciated as I have over 700 titles in the app currently - 700+ MB of data.

Thanks,

mpwolf

Try double tapping the Home key and swipe all apps up.

Thank you sir for the recommendation, but no joy. I performed that several times as well as several complete
shut downs and power ups to no avail. The apparent corruption came about when I was in the general notes app of the
iPad. I closed it and then tried to open iGigBook to no avail.

I think I'm down to two options: 1. Offload the app in the settings section because supposedly the data is kept and reloaded
upon reinstalling the program; 2. Save the data in a file on the desktop and reload it all after reinstalling the program as I did
when switching to the iPad Pro.

Saving the data is probably the best failsafe if I can perform that function - haven't tried that yet.

Any other insight would also be appreciated.

Thank You

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. First use iTunes File Sharing to copy the contents of the iGigBook documents folder to your computer then uninstall the app. After you have backed up and uninstalled follow the steps in this How To: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1802

Now I'm intrigued!

I'm uninstalled / installed the app from the App Store twice and it still denies me access
to the program.

Is there some sort of block possible being applied by the iPad itself?

THX

You're going to have to explain in detail what you mean by "denies me access".

Sir,

I've figured it out at last.

When I said denied access, I meant that every time I tapped the icon, I would
end up in the screen you get when powering up - just could not open the app.

When I performed the uninstall/install twice as I noted in an earlier reply, it
was just an app offload as presented in the manage memory options in the
settings program. That action did nothing even though the verbiage states
that all data would be retained and placed back in the app after re-downloading.

After I uninstalled and then reinstalled the app, it worked like normal again. I did
save all of the data and reloaded it into the program without difficulty.

I guess it was just a fluke corruption, because I had no issues for a few years now
with the program on my other iPad. Now said iPad is a clone backup for the iPad Pro.

Thanks Again
