Move from iPad to Android?

Post by devnulljp » Sun Oct 28, 2018 7:31 pm

My iPad is getting old and I'm considering buying a new Android tablet rather than a new iPad. I realise I'd have to buy the Android version of igigbook. Is there a simple way of keeping everything I have in there on the iPad over to the Android device without having to reupload all my pdfs and indexes? Can I synch the iPad version somewhere and then synch it back down to an Android device? I've seen some instructions for moving from one iPad to another, but not an easy way to cross platforms. I found this post, but it suggests I'd need to reupload everything one at a time

Thanks

We're talking about two different platforms and there are features in the iPad version that don't exist in the Android version, like the Metronome and Midi support. The index data will sync with your user name once you log in and you can just copy the PDF files over to the new device.

That's a lot of PDFs though. Any easier way than reuploading them all one by one? It'll take forever

Why would following step 2 in the link from original comment require you to transfer one file at a time when you can select all of the files?

I guess I'm missing something -- is it possible to select all of the pdfs in igigbook on my ipad and transfer them to a new tablet in one go? I can't see a way to do that. I have a bunch of realbooks on there as well as a bunch of stuff I've scanned over the years.

Thanks for your help.

Step 2 in the link instructs you to copy the contents of the iGigBook folder to your computer and typically you select all files with Ctrl A or Command A which is a universal action across all operating systems. Once the files are on your computer and you connect an Android device you can drag all files and drop them in any folder.

Is this a Mac thing? I can't access the files on the ipad from my computer. Can't mount ipad in Linux to do that. OK, I'll see if I can find someone with a Mac I could borrow to do it on. Thanks!

It's an iTunes thing which can also run under Windows. Check the link in Step 2 for Apple's documentation on File Sharing for both Windows and Mac.

yeah, I don't use Windows or Mac, so that's the issue. I'll see if I can find a Mac to do the itunes transfer on. Thanks
