Change Password

Post by ricochet » Mon Apr 15, 2013 3:52 pm

Hello,

I've found a way to have my current password sent to me via email using the "Lost Password" link. (This is weird functionality BTW to send my clear password via email?)

But I need to *CHANGE* my password. I used a temp password during sign up which is not secure and I see absolutely no way to change it, anywhere.

Please help ASAP!

I'm sorry, unfortunately at the present moment there is no way to change your password for my.igigbook.com, all you can do is retrieve what the current password is.

This is a significant problem.

I've done a fair amount of work on my books, and configuration, and I NEED to change my password.

What are my options?

This is a serious problem! My account is NOT secure....

Your options are to use the existing password that you have chosen. There currently is no way for you to change your password.

Congrats on the software itself, I like it, a lot actually.

But little things like this really detract from your app...

I've never belonged to a service that doesn't let you change your password..... I'm wondering if this will violate the Apple terms of Service in regard to your app. I will review and let them know if it is.

Thanks for your time, although I wish something so basic and essential to ANY account system would not be brushed aside so easily.

For perspective here's a news article that may interest you:

http://www.engadget.com/2013/03/22/appl ... eset-hack/

I've encountered many sites (that contain real personal information) that offer a password reset feature with nothing more than providing ones email address which means if someone has access to your email that can use the reset link to create a new password and you then no longer have access to that account because once they change the password they can then change the email address.

Sure you can't change the password, but no one else can either even if they have access to your email, additionally I don't understand who would be interested in tampering with your list of book indexes. Lastly, in case you didn't know, none of your personal information has been provided by you and stored by us.

Looking at your reviews, you have more complaining users about this, along with the negative review I just added.

I will be reporting this to Apple as an application security issue.

Hey Phil

One way or another, every services let you change the password, I'm not even talking about RESETING the password, I'd like to login and change it normally, like I can on Apple, this forum (IM WRITING ON NOW) and every other service out there.

I won't argue with you about, it sounds like your mind it made up, I can accept that. I just don't agree with it, and you making assumptions on who'd want to mess with my account is beside the point.

I'm sorry that you're unsatisfied that there isn't a way for you to change your password. I'm also sorry that you feel that you must issue threats and post negative reviews in the app store. Having said that, you no longer have the ability to participate on this forum. If you have technical support issues, you can contact us via email.
