App update problem

Post by NadineToma » Thu Oct 03, 2013 11:46 pm

App Store shows an iGigbook update is available, along with some other apps. I selected update all. All updates were installed with no problem except iGigbook. I get a message that the app update is for an app downloaded with a different Apple ID and to log in with that ID and to try again. The problem is I have only 1 Apple ID and it is all I have ever had. Apple support advised me to contact iGIgbook developer. Except for this forum I cannot seem to locate any other support for this app. Any suggestions?

I can't really help you with the mechanics of the App store. I'm not trying to past the buck but I don't really see how your issue can be resolved by us.

What version are you updating from? What version of iOS are your running?

IGigbook version is 1.88 and I am running 7.0.2
I didn't think it was an app issue and may have to contact a live Apple support person for this odd situation. I have not seen this before for this or any other app.

When version 1.90 first went live, I had trouble downloading it from the App store because we had pulled the app from the store due to problems with version 1.89. I would go to the purchased tab of the App store app on your device and see if you can do the download from there.

This afternoon I found that my iPad had already downloaded the update, but not installed it. When I installed it, it looked OK until I tried to open a song in my book list; when the app dropped out.

After two or three attempts I considered the issue likely to be related to iOS 7's recent update (to 7.0.2), so after ensuring I had copies of all my books in their pdf form, I deleted iGigBook and re-installed it from iTunes.

It seemed to be OK on start up, but my books were not showing in the list. I added all the correctly-labelled music books to iGigBook using the iTunes document panel, but they haven't yet appeared in iGigBook because, apparently, I have used my two synchronisations [I don't recall when!!]. I'll wait till tomorrow now and try to re-sync to download the indexes that were wiped when I deleted the application. This should solve my problem ... and perhaps yours Nadine

Mike, when you install the app, you should always do it from your device not from iTunes. Take a look at this thread where a user had a similar issue as you which may help:

Cheers Phil, I have just followed the procedure and the indexes are syncing now. I think there may be an issue with the new button as part of iOS7 that appeared as 'flat' in my first attempt. I had no indication that I had pressed it [possibly causing me to press it several times]. After re-installation following your advice, I got a 3D button back, and could see it pressed on my first go. The iPad took a while to tell me it was syncing, but I had just pressed the button once and put the iPad down. It's likely downloading the indexes now.

Thank you sincerely for your assistance ... it had caused me some frustration! 8-)

Got the new iPad air, updated all my apps and igigbook tries to launch but shows and entire white screen before failing and going away. I deleted it from my iPad, went to reinstall by going to the App Store, and NOTHING can be found related to igigbook! Even when I follow the link from the igigbook web page - nothing.... :|

Yes, we pulled the app from the App Store because of this behavior. We have submitted a new version that corrects the problem.
