server response very slow

Post by jazzmo » Sat Oct 12, 2013 9:11 am

Is there anything I can do to improve the server response,
anytime I change menu or delete a song entry, I am waiting
half a minute or more for the server to respond. On top
of the bulk upload waiting cycles, this makes editing and
adding songindexes a lengthy undertaking. I have tried
several different browsers without succes.
please advise,
Martin

After having this problem for two days, this afternoon everything suddenly worked, maybe a problem with my provider...?

Server response time is currently 25.5 seconds to navigate from page to page, and I'm experiencing similar wait times trying to edit listings. It's been this way since yesterday. Love the app!

I'm not experiencing 25 seconds. What exactly are you trying to do?

Just advanced to the next page (prev/next) buttons.

When it slows, pretty much any action that involves a response from the site takes a long time (e.g. selecting an index for editing).

However, I'm not seeing it now - it has sped up to about 5 seconds. It seems to come and go, perhaps depending on traffic?

I thought it might be traffic dependant, but it made no difference what time I tried it, for me it was two days in a row and your 25 seconds was also my estimate. After two days it suddenly started to work ok. Now it happens now and then.

I'm not experiencing any problems with response time, certainly not 25 seconds for a page to display. If I were I'd look into it further, currently things seem to be working just fine.

Thanks Phil. There's a service called ChartBeat that I use to monitor my site - it measures response times, gives you a real-time estimate of how many people are currently on the site, and can send emails when things go awry. You may find it (or something similar) useful. Regards

Thanks for the tip but we have our own tools for monitoring and alerts. What we're most concerned about is response time for delivering the index data to the device not so much with the minority of individuals building their own super iGigBook index portfolio. :D
