Communication Gap

Post by stetarf » Tue Aug 28, 2012 5:58 pm

I can not get my phone to sync with my iPad. I've tried everything that is listed on the site and help section. Any ideas why the pager still won't connect?

The key to success is to have both devices with bluetooth on and make sure they are not paired with any other bluetooth device. I use iGigBook and iGigBook Pager on a regular basis for reading gigs and it has been pretty consistent in connecting.

I can help you better if you tell me the following:

What are the settings for iGigBook Pager on both the iPad and the iPhone?

Are you accessing songs via the Gig Set Viewer?

I cancelled all of the other blue tooth devices and even reset the bluetooth The single switch is off and the motion control is on. Other than that I'm not sure where to look. I have the same settings in the iPad pager app. I am using the set viewer when I Truro connect them but for some reason they stay red. unless I'm not starting them in the right order maybe?

Does the sensitivity need to be the same?

There is no setting for sensitivity on the iPad. If you have iGigBook Pager installed on the iPad, you shouldn't. The settings I'm referring to are in the settings app of the device for each app.

Ahhh. I didn't even think about looking there. I'm new to apple devices. On my phone here the ont setting there is see is client which in set to "on". I can check the others when I get home tonight. I also have the pager app downloaded on my iPad. Should the settings in there be set to on as well? And should I do something in the actual gig book app settings on the iPad?

Uninstall iGigBook Pager from the iPad.

If Client Mode on the iPhone or iPod is on, then Server Mode on the iPad is on, otherwise they are both off. Try turning wireless on both devices off and see if that helps. When I'm using iGigBook Pager I put both the iPad and the iPod in Airplane mode and turn Bluetooth on for both devices.

Ok i appreciate your help an ill try these and see. How do these to apps communicate? I think that's what I'm most unclear about since the phone and pad can not connect to each other.

They connect via Bluetooth using a proprietary Apple protocol. You can't pair the devices together like you would pair a Bluetooth headset or speaker to a phone as you have discovered. If Bluetooth is enabled on both devices they should connect in less than a minute if you you're viewing a document from the Gig Set Viewer on the iPad and the iPhone is running iGigBook Pager with the two buttons displayed.
