iGig Book on ChromeOS

Post by dirvin » Thu Sep 20, 2018 8:22 am

Hi Phil,

I've read that some variants of Chrome OS can run Android apps. Just curious if you (or anyone out there) tested iGigbook on a ChromeBook?

A lot of inexpensive ones are coming out with much larger screens than tablets have. Running this on a 12 or 13 inch screen would be awesome!

Thanks,
Dwayne

So I'm answering my own post :D

I recently purchased an HP X2 Chromebook and loaded iGigbook on it. I'm happy to report that it runs fine on Chrome OS (v74.x). So far so good, no major hiccups. I'll use it on my first gig tonight and I'll post back if there were any problems.

The only caveat that I can mention is to find one with a 3:2 aspect ratio. I originally bought a Samsung with a 16:9 screen and the charts were stretched out and looked funny in portrait mode. So I swapped it for the HP.

Bottom line is now I have a 12.3 inch screen (2K resolution) for less than half the cost of an iPad Pro ($420 on Amazon).

Thanks,
Dwayne
