Page Numbers in a Custom Index

Post by BobG56 » Mon Jan 25, 2016 3:15 pm

I am trying to create an index for a book containing 1212 songs. It all works ok except that when using Song Search it goes to a page two pages before the song I am trying to go to. So I have tried bumping the page numbers I input via the Bulk Upload process by two. But that seems to do absolutely nothing.

If a concrete example helps ... I search for April Showers and it is found; so I tap on April Showers; I am taken to the page for "The Apartment" - which has printed on it page number 52. I tap the bottom of the screen twice and end up on page 54 which has "April Showers". In the latest index info I uploaded for April Showers I said that it was on page 58!

Is it possible that "Del Marked" is not doing what I want it to do? I've been getting rid of A-C entries via Del Marked and then adding new A-C entries (with bumped up page numbers) via Bulk Upload.

Thanks, Bob

The approach that you're using is not working. Creating an index is not complicated work but it requires attention to detail and that all begins with the index contained within the book. One uses the index or table of contents within the PDF to build the index. When you do this, the song title and page number in your index matches the song title and page number in the index contained within the book. Don't upload anything until this is true otherwise you will get stuck in a cycle of making changes that never turn out to be correct. You are currently stuck in that cycle.

When the index you created matches the index/table of contents contained in the book, the next step is to upload that index, link it to your book and then select a song. If the song you selected isn't the one that you see that can be easily resolved using this How To: How To Adjust An Index To Fit Your PDF
