Great Gig Book Index

Post by PeterSprague »

Hi All, I'm sure this has been talked about but maybe you can steer me in the right direction.

I have the Great Gig Book 1996 version in PDF form. I've imported it into iGigBook and the index is totally off. I've tried the four finger tap and reset the offset but still things aren't lining up.

Any ideas? lots of thanks for passing along a solution, all best Peter

Thanks Phil for offering to help.

Yes I've already read over this post:
05-20-2020 01:21 PM
New Index Available: "Great Gig (Blue) Book"

If you don't see this index in Manage My Book Settings, you need to sync and then it will appear so that you can mark it active.
And the Book Index Name in Manage My Book settings is checked active. So this means that the index that my book is referencing should be correct.

But it isn't.

Is there a way to load a different index (hopefully the "fixed" one) in the Manage My Book Settings window?

thanks, Peter

Sorry to be so lame on this but when you say the first post in this forum, which forum topic are you referring to?

If I go to Board index/iGig How to

the first post is:

iGigBook Version 8 For iPad, iPad Mini, iPad Pro Now Available

I read that and it doesn't address my issue.

What is the link to the post?

thanks, Peter

"This Forum" means "iGigBook PDF Indexes", which you can see at the top in the bread crumb trail and below this post.

iGigBook Home Page < Board index < iGigBook Product Support (Android, iOS, iPadOS) < iGigBook PDF Indexes

OK, iGigBook PDF Indexes, the first post under Announcements or under Topics?

If under Topics, yes I've read that post:

The index for the very popular Great Gig (Blue) Book is now available. There are a few versions of this PDF floating around, check the Latest News section in the Content Manager for information on how to obtain the index and the PDF that matches this index.

I then click on the link and it takes me to:

Latest news

I then wade through all of the info and it has this:

5-20-2020 01:21 PM
New Index Available: "Great Gig (Blue) Book"

If you don't see this index in Manage My Book Settings, you need to sync and then it will appear so that you can mark it active.
PDF that matches this index

And yes I have the PDF of the book but there is no instruction as to how to load in the updated INDEX.

How do I get the updated index to load in?

thanks, Peter

Yes, you already have the PDF, but according to you, it doesn't work with the index that we provide. The PDF from Latest News does work with the index that we provide. The post that you quoted explains this.

OK, I started over from scratch:

got rid of the existing PDF doc in iGig.
Downloaded the PDF in "Latest News".
Imported the new PDF and linked it to the Great Gig Book in the Book List.
Ran the iBook synchronization (two opposing arrows).

Went to the book song list and clicked on a song it and went to the wrong page in the book.

Can you confirm that it works for you?

What's going wrong with me?

How To Adjust An Index To Fit Your PDF

If you use the 4 finger approach, navigate to the first song which is "I Left My Heart In San Francisco"
