iGigBook Version 1.52

Post by SiteAdmin »

Please rate or write a review about iGigBook in the iTunes App Store. Links that you can use to do this are located here: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=14

Book List View Changes:
Pressing and holding an item in this view allows you to modify the page offset for the book. Previously you could only alter the page offset via my.igigbook.com and would require you to sync the change to your iPad from the igigbook server. This new feature sets the offset locally and sets it on the server if an internet connection is available.

User Login/Registration Changes:
The login icon now disappears once a successful login or registration has occurred.

Fantastic change. This will be much more intuitive for iPad users. Thanks.

Thanks, now if I could only get people to believe that there actually is a way to calculate the correct offset without picking numbers at random. :D

ROFLMAO. Of course one source of this problem is when somebody jumps to a tune in the middle of the book, observes "gee, it's off by six pages" and adjusts without realizing there were missing pages. (Not to mention the fact that I was personally guilty of posting a question about this, due to somehow not calculating the offset right -- despite a career in which I've written compilers and operating systems. So yeah, we should all be able to do it, but "many a slip 'twixt cup and lip.")

On the other hand, you've now made it possible to pick numbers at random until the book starts looking correct -- without blowing the resync count. So good on you. (I guess that's why we all like the WYSIWYG approach -- tweak it until it looks right.)

Obviously, you could address this systematically by providing editable indices, where each TOC entry can be adjusted (thereby adjusting all subsequent TOC entries), instead of just allowing updates to the starting offset for the book. Personally I would LOVE this, because I could get rid of all those dang blank pages I had to insert.

But I'm not going to be the one to suggest that you add THAT feature. :o

The physical books are widely available as are sheet feed scanners that can process 50 pages at a time.
