Restoring from iCloud Backup

Post by forthegoodtimes » Fri Jun 10, 2016 12:22 pm

Hi there! I have searched through old threads regarding restoring from backups but can't seem to find the exact information I'm looking for, so I would really appreciate your help...here's my question:

I need to restore my iPad from an iCloud backup. This means that I need to reset & erase all content on the iPad first. The iCloud backup was made after all files were put into iGigBook, so we are good on that end. There are two main sources for my iGigBook files: PDFs I downloaded manually from the computer (i.e. individual sheet music and real books). However, I am worried that all the sheet music that I manually scanned in using the DocScan on my iPad will not be restored.

Will iCloud restore EVERYTHING or will I have a problem?

Thank you!

I think you first need to know what exactly is in your backup once you know that then you know what you will recover. One should always know what one has backed up, which is why we advocate making a separate backup of everything that's in the iGigBook Documents folder using iTunes to your hard drive or a flash drive.

I'm not sure what you mean. How do you do that?

Transfer files between your computer and an app on your device

Sorry, this is probably the wrong place for this. I have copies of PDFs in my iBooks. How do I get these loaded into the program? I must be pretty slow cause I just figure this out. Thanks for the help

iBooks would have to have a feature that allows it to share content with other apps. If that content is DRM protected you will not be able to share that content with other apps.

I am at a complete loss. I have downloaded real books and they reside in iBooks. I purchased an iPad Pro just for this app. I simply can't figure out how to get these PDFs into the program. I have worked on it every night for 3 weeks to no avail. Does anyone in the Houston area know how to run this program? I will gladly pay someone $100 per hour to show me how to use it.

Thanks. Eric

You problem Eric, is that the items you purchased for iBooks are probably not PDF files, but DRM(Digital Rights Management) content. If this is correct you will not be able to export from iBooks, if you could export from iBooks that option would be available.

You're problem doesn't seem to be with use of the program but more has to do with having the PDF content to add to the program. Again the stuff that you purchased via iBooks tends to not be exportable as a PDF file since it isn't a PDF file to begin with.

Thanks, I will check and see if this is the case. When I downloaded the files they definitely had a .pdf attachment. Maybe they were converted. Apple does some strange and terrible things.
