Orphaned Song Entry - New device

I purchased a new iPad and did an "iTunes restore", using the iTunes backup of the older iPad. This initially seemed to work for iGigBook - book list, my scores, sets, etc. appeared to be working on the new iPad. Then I noticed in gig set viewer, some songs would not display - when touching the song title it would continue to display the song list. At times I could not switch modes with the book list, my scores, etc. buttons in the bottom menu.

Troubleshooting, I did a book list synch, iGigBook processed the book list and my scores. Then in gig set viewer, several song titles said "orphaned song entry" where the book / score name appears. Comparing the book list in the older iPad with the new one, some books that are on the old iPad book list, which were in the backup of the old iPad prior to restoring the new one, are not present in the book list on the new iPad. The gig set viewer on the old iPad does not say "orphaned song entry" for these (or any) songs.

Through iTunes file sharing, I have backups of the old iPad on my desktop (Windows 7) computer. My objective is to have everything in iGigBook on the new iPad just like ithe old one.

Should I connect the new iPad to iTunes file sharing, delete all iGigBook files, then add them one at a time (236 files total) to the new iPad, or is there a better / easier way?

How can I avoid the "orphaned song entry" problem in the future?

Thank you, Greg
