Phil,

I apologize that this question is probably out of place on the site.

I want to purchase ...

The Ultimate Pop/Rock Fake Book--ulpoprock

But I don't seem to be able to find anyone who sells a digital version? Where can I get it?

Also, I'm trying to buy some additional books but I'm having trouble finding digital copies. I've got the Sher Music Real Books and The Digital Standards book but I'm having trouble finding a lot of the other ones in digital format. Any recommendations?

RS
I would contact the publisher for any questions regarding the availability of PDF versions of books they publish.

I too am concerned about Stuberg's concern re Catalina NOT supporting iTunes (rather the Music app) because what Phil's answer refers to -- e.g. "How To: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1802" -- tells us to use iTunes: ''Using iTunes file sharing (viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1640), copy the contents of the iGigBook documents folder on the old device to a folder on your computer."

I am currently on an older Mac than Catalina OS b/c upgrading breaks other things, but I hope to be able to upgrade soon, and then I won't be able to follow your advice for how to install iGigBook on a new device (I also won't be able to use it to delete every score in iGigBook, which I did recently to reset it to its default state).

Please advise. Thanks.

We link to Apple's documentation with respect to File Sharing. If Apple's File Sharing isn't working with your version of OSX, you will need to work that out with them, we didn't create it and can't fix it and is also the reason we don't provide documentation for it other than a link to the "official" documentation

Given this is the case, it would be nice to provide a better interface in My Scores (like the ability to delete all, or select a fair bunch of scores via a select button, to delete all at once rather than have to do one at a time).

It would also be ideal if we could create our own indexes (perhaps this is possible? if so I've had no luck finding online). Then I could just create a big fat pdf of all my individual hand-transcribed scores, add it via My Scores (using Google Drive on a single file as opposed to trying to add very very many), then link it an index I create. This seems a better way to proceed for folks who don't use commercial fake books as much as hand-transcribed or composed work.

I did go to your link for Transferring files wrt Apple <url>https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201301</url> and thank you for this. Stuberg might appreciate knowing that it appears Apple's cleaned up its computer to device file sharing a bit. Supposedly he can now do what he wants to be able to do via the Finder. I wish there was a way to tag him here so he could learn about this, as its not terribly easy to find things on this forum and some people could use the extra help.

So you can create a custom index <url>viewtopic.php?f=22&t=7</url> ... here's how. Hooray.

Thank you for your comments, belindathom. I'll try syncing iGigBook and iGigBook Mobile again. There appear to be many bugs in Catalina having to do with syncing including but not limited to the transition from iTunes to Music. Not pretty! I should have waited to upgrade.

Also, I'm starting to think that there are not legal versions of many of the fake books in digital form. I'm not sure if you can legally buy a fake book and then copy the whole thing yourself or what the guidelines are. I'd like to have more books but there's no way I'm dealing with regular printed books. That's not worth the time or effort. I guess if somebody calls a tune that I can't buy it in a digital fake book I can just say, "I'm setting out of this tune!"

:-)

Of course, if you can play by ear and have a photo graphic memory, none of this is necessary.

File sharing using iTunes is what you use not syncing.

If you own a paper copy of a book you do have the right to scan that book to create a digital version for your own use.

We will not be providing a delete all in My Scores.

You can do this additional work if you want but you can already search My Scores to locate what want, no need to create an index which is used for searching only.
