Can’t Export Set music

Post by jupiterbone »

I have attempted to export set music. All seems to be going correctly and a file does save on Dropbox. That file is unreadable. I attempted to export and send to myself via email and got a file with zero bites in it. I can export the original file from my unindexed scores, but it has no Mark up in it that I have done. What am I doing wrong here?

How many songs does that set have that you are trying to export?

The current attempt is with the trombone score to THE ADDAMS FAMILY. That would make about 91 songs/pages in all. I have bookmarked each page so pages turn properly. For instance, the Overture is 5 pages in total, each page with a book mark. It will export a single page with my markup, but not the whole set list, which is the entire musical.

I need to be able to send that whole set list, markup and all, to someone subbing for me. I can export a page at a time and download to my desktop computer, then put it all back togather as a single large file…but that is extremely time consuming considering I would be sending it to another iGig user, or to someone who would print it out. Without the markup it’s no good for a sub. It’s frustrating!

Just FYI - I have been uploading PDF files that I have created bookmarks for each page in from my laptop. When I put them in my unindexed scores and import the bookmarks then move them onto a set list so that effectively the Setlist is a table of continents with a hot link to each page, it works great! For instance, with the overture I mentioned I will have overture P1 followed b overture P2 followed by overture P3 followed by overture P4 followed by overture P5 - then a different setting from the musical. That way in rehearsal I can easily go from scene one to rehearsing 19 next by simply going back to the Setlist and picking it from there. Using it this way I am doing all my mark up in the Setlist and not the original Unindexed score. Other than the issue about exporting it is fantastic. I have even added some other fake books that are not index available in the system and I am able to use them easily.

I hope there will be someway to solve this export the whole Setlist with markup issue. For now it hasn’t been a problem, but it will be an issue if and when I need someone to sub for me on the musical. If this is outside the capabilities of the app at the moment that’s OK. It would be good if that could be incorporated eventually. The app works so well otherwise that for now I can do a workaround if I need to, but it would be a massive times and energy saving grace if I could just export that whole doggone thing on Setlist and all of its mark up together as one big happy PDF file.

I have looked into this and have loaded up the "Adams Family" Trombone book "Tour Version". I opened it in My Scores created one bookmark that includes all 99 pages and added that to a set list. I then marked up some of the pages. From the Gig Set View I selected the export icon (Tray with the up arrow) and uploaded it to Google Drive. The annotations I made appear in the uploaded PDF. I've also done this test with other shows where each show number has its own bookmark and it exports fine with the annotations.

I'm not saying you're not experiencing what you are but I'm not seeing it.

I’ve been creating bookmarks externally with my PDF Creator in my PC. I then imported those bookmarks into igigbook, then into a set list for the Addams family. Otherwise it doesn’t seem to want to turn pages consecutively and I need to be able to Jump around in that score during rehearsal. I’ll be glad to send you the PDF file that I have which does have a few mark ups in it that I did previous to Igigbook and my scan, but it does have all the bookmarks I made in it. then you can see and try it for yourself.

I went back and redid everything in the showbook. I purged all the bookmarks I made with my PDF creator. I created in igigbook a I bookmark for the first page of each show tune. It still didn’t work when I went to export the file from Setview.

Bookmarks present or not present would have nothing at all to do with whether or not your exported PDF has the annotations. You sending your PDF isn't going to make a difference as I already have that book.

What you can do is open up the Files app, select the "iGigBook 8" folder and send me the ".inote" and the ".idraw" files for the PDF you are having the issue with. What email address to send to? Tap the Heart icon.

Thank you. The file will be coming from my main email address, ssking2b@yahoo.com

I sent all the files I can find tag to the Addams family. One of the ones you requested was missing but it didn’t exist for anything else in the folder either.

Thanks for the files, here's what your problem is:

Your bookmarks are the issue. They land on the correct part of the PDF but they have too many pages assigned to them. For example:

9 - Secrets

This song is 4 pages. Your bookmark shows it as 55 pages.

You have 45 bookmarks and all of them show a number of pages greater than the actual song. Any attempt to export this set will result in an out of memory error since the resulting PDF would be over 1,000 pages.

Fix your bookmarks and you fix your export issue.
