Want to see ALL song entries

Post by edowells » Fri Jul 20, 2012 3:40 pm

Is there a "browse" mode, where the entire song index is available to view all at once? Thanks

Yes, you can browse the index of any book, by selecting it.

I am wondering the same thing (new user)

Isn't there a way to view a master song list for all books that have been loaded and indexed? I don't want to browse by book, I want to browse by all available song titles, alphabetically. I see I can search for a title, and the list narrows as I type more characters, but I want to see all songs from A-Z.

I would expect to see the complete list of available songs in the song list view, and then let the list narrow if I type into the search field. right now, I see a blank page with no song titles until I type something into the search field.

Serious question: Why would you want to scroll through thousands of song titles?

in order to have songs suggested to me that I would not have thought of.

It would be great to have all the titles of a particular book, too.

The Book List view allows you to browse individual songs in a book. You can use the song title search and enter a single letter which will return a large number of results. The app is optimized for searching so that a musician can quickly locate a song.

Me too...

Post by Cameron Hood » Fri Nov 30, 2012 5:21 pm

I have a master song list, with the books titled. I just want to make that active, so I can go alphabetically to a song and pick the one I want. Having to go book by book sucks - I can do that in iBooks. How would I know automatically which book Song X is in? I must say, between that and the VERY cumbersome interface, I'm starting to REALLY not like this app, even though I wanted to love it.

Sincerely,
Cameron

It's not clear to me what PDFs you have loaded into the iGigBook Documents folder. If you're trying to use the indexes we provide for PDFs that you own have you tried the Six Easy Steps For iGigBook Success?

Hello there all!

I think that the OP is asking whether it's possible to access a collated index of all the PDFs he has uploaded to his device - something I'd like too. I.e. if I've uploaded all three classic Real Books and all three New Real Books then I'd like to be able to access a single master index which shows all songs from all books and can take me to the correct page of the correct book at a single tap.

This is useful because I might want to play, say, Skylark, but I can't remember which book it's in. I know I can use the Song Search facility, but sometimes, in the heat of a gig with trumpet in one hand, I'd find using an index easier than typing.

As for scrolling through thousands of songs - I don't see what the problem is as they would be in alphabetical order and the usual ipad index facilities (i.e. alphabet on right allowing me to jump to the S's and inertial scrolling) make it manageable. It's not like you would have to step through the index one song at a time!

In any case, really appreciating the app so far! (I'm a new user.)

I can sort of see what you are proposing working with indexes from 6 books maximum, more than that there's just too many results for that approach to be useful. When I go to the Song Title search and enter just the single letter "s", I get 14,913 results. Granted some of those results are song titles that contain "s" but the first part of that result set, the items that start with "s", seems to me, to large to be useful on a gig.
