merging set lists- notating issues and mirror view

Post by obxachris » Fri Nov 30, 2012 10:32 pm

Hello, so far I'm loving the program. Thanks for the great work. I've been using Igig in combat (i.e. umm actual gigs and concerts) for a few weeks now- and up a couple of questions have arisen I couldn't find searching the forum:

1. Is there a way to merge set-lists?? - e.g. for this holiday season, I'd love to take one of my regular playlists (200+ songs), merge it with my seasonal Christmas tunes gig list (60+ tunes). I figured I could duplicate it, just add the Christmas songs and call it something else...But for merging two bigger lists it's seems a bit labor intensive. Just curious if this was the only way to do it?

2. Any plans to allow editing in gig list view? After working extensively with the program, it seems it would be more efficient to just be able to edit in one page rather than having a separate small window to work with and going back and forth .

3. I've had an issue where when I make some notes on a score and come back to it, I'm no longer able to edit (or add) any additional annotations to the score. If I try to push the annotation button, it simply does the circle-slash thing. Am I doing something wrong, or this a known issue/limitation/bug?

4. Rather than doing multiple ipads for my band, I'm about to do a hook up with HDMI monitor(s) for the rhythm section that simply mirrors what I'm viewing on my ipad. Hoping this will work. Welcome any input or advice as this was a much more cost effective way to go.

Sorry for the long post- and Thanks again for a great program!
Cheers,
C

1. Currently there isn't a way to merge set lists.

2. I'm not sure of what you mean.

3. Press and hold to enter into and exit from note edit mode. More info is available here:

4. You can use mirroring with the HDMI cable, though with the VGA cable you get two pages up on a monitor. I'm not sure if two pages will appear with the HDMI cable, haven't tested it.

Hi Phil,
Thanks so much for the uber-quick reply. Much appreciated.
1. Ok thanks.

2. After my posting, I had seen a couple of other posts asking why the gig set viewer and editor were separate entities instead of one page for both. I think I understood your logic in doing so from your previous replies.- however I've found on the bandstand, needing to make on the fly changes it's a bit cumbersome going back and forth between the two different windows. At very least it would be great to be able to move songs around from the set list view. My logic being it's larger view is preferable to the 5-6 songs that are only visible in the "edit" page.

3. My apologies - Somehow I missed the editing tutorial- that was most helpful!

4. Cool- I'll let you know how it works out, and will be more than happy to post my experiences and conclusions on the forum if it helps.. VGA monitors are plentiful, but the Ipad VGA adapters don't have power, and my ipad3 drains battery quick and would scare me on a big show.. Without going with a custom cable, the HDMI's with power are easier to secure. An HDMI adapter with usb power, and some refurbished 15" flatscreens looked like the better way to go, because I was also able to use longer cable runs. The two-page thing isn't a deal breaker for me, just being able to mirror is fine. I'll be testing this setup on a cocktail gig with my quintet next week when it all arrives; I'll let you know.....

As a nod to your software, beside my jazz band- I've recommended two churches I work with go Igig (instead of the Planning Center app they use now) - and I'm in the process of scanning a well known Motown act's entire show- hoping to use it for our 2013 season.

Thank you so much again!

Cheers,
Chris
