Igigbook stopped when a dot is entered in song search
I recently installed igigbook 2.8.2 on a Samsung TAB A with Android 5.0. Works fine so far but, when a '.' (dot) is entered in the song search field, igigbook stops and cannot get startet again. I was looking for 'E.G. Blues'. I could recover after deleting all application data. but needed to reconnect to the server to get my set-up. If this happens at a gig, I will be lost. Is there a file that I could erase, so I can restart the app with my data without server connection?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Igigbook stopped when a dot is entered in song search
It seems that this song title exists only in a index that you have created, we've pulled your index down to a device running 2.8.3.
Typing a dot and nothing else displays results.
Typing E. displays results with E.G. Blues being the first result.
Perhaps you have some additional steps that we can try?

Re: Igigbook stopped when a dot is entered in song search
I am not aware, that I have created an own index.
The problem shows up by just typing a dot in the search field.
I also remember having problems with stopped igigbook in the beginning after folder rescan, when I had added pdf files of own songs into the igigbook folder, and some of them had dots in the filename. After all the dots had been removed, the folder rescan worked properly and the application did not break down.

Re: Igigbook stopped when a dot is entered in song search
You're correct you didn't create an index, my mistake, the song "E.G. Blues" only exists in a custom index created by another user.
I'm not seeing any crash reports generated by your device and I'm unable to reproduce a crash by simply typing a period in any search box and I've tried it on 5 different tablets. I don't have the tablet you have and I believe it's happening to you however I'm telling you that this is something that I can't reproduce and can't fix if I can't reproduce it. Perhaps you can provide more information...
Is this the stock ROM or a custom ROM? If custom, which one?
Does this crash happen with any other character, like a comma?
Are you using the song title search?
Any other apps running besides iGigBook?

Re: Igigbook stopped when a dot is entered in song search
Hi,
thanks for your support. The crash does not occur with a comma, but it crashes with a star '*' in the search box.
I do not know what you mean by stock or custom ROM. I have no ROM attached to the device. Please explain further, thanks...

We're not having a problem with a "*" or a "." in the search box. The most current version for Android is 2.8.4, make sure you're running that version by pressing the icon that looks like a wrench at the top right of the Book List view. Once you've determined that you have the most current version, I would sync to pull down the indexes again, no need to continually do it, just a single refresh to see if your problem persists.

I'm running 2.8.4 now, I have snched, I am using song title search, no other app is running on the tablet. Igigbook survived a dot, but crashed again with search for 'E.'

For now, since we cannot reproduce this and do not have anyone else reporting such a problem, I would use searches that do not involve puntuation.Herbert Fessler wrote:I'm running 2.8.4 now, I have snched, I am using song title search, no other app is running on the tablet. Re: Igigbook stopped when a dot is entered in song search
I have also tried with 'My songs search': searching afor '.' returns all songs, which is ok. 'E.' returns all songs containing 'e.' plus a couple of lines with lots of questionmarks and some characters that look like cord symbols. Seems to be a kind of error-message, but does not stop igigbook. Could it be, that there is any file in the igigbook folder, that causes the probelem? What shoul I look for?
With a search with any other alpha caharacter, followed by a dot, everythings seems to be fine.
With 2.8.3 a simple dot caused the error. So something has changed with the update to 2.8.4.
