Sharing drawings/notes

Post by spinality » Thu Sep 05, 2019 3:40 pm

Now that I have an Apple Pencil I find the drawing feature extremely useful. They finally attach magnetically to the iPad, making them entirely practical on stage.

My wish-list request is for some streamlined way to share these annotations between iPads. My new iPad goes to gigs, and that's where usually I take notes, circle repeats, etc. I keep my old iPad in my studio, and it would be helpful if I could easily transfer notes the way I transfer set lists and PDFs.

I realize I can export a page with all the markup, but I don't want to add a stand-alone page taken out of a fakebook that's already on the other system. I also have this issue with bandmates -- it would be helpful if I could easily share my marked up chart with other iGigBook users.

I understand that this is not a simple issue. Transferring all the markup from a fakebook would replace anything already on the target system, and that could be confusing. Transferring just a single page's markup would probably be hairy. I can of course do a full backup and restore of the content from one machine to another using iTunes. But that becomes a big process.

I mention this in case you can think of some straightforward way to export annotations that is as seamless as transferring set lists. It would be very helpful.

Thanks again

Simplest way is to copy the content from one iPad to the other using iTunes using the date of the files as a guide to what is or isn't up to date.

Yes, thanks, this is exactly what I do. However it's only practical if you're at your desktop. I was picturing some way to transfer via email, as with setlists, which works so beautifully and simply.

Just something perhaps to consider in future.
