File management on the Android version--what files can I safely delete?

Post by Jkseigle »

I am looking for opportunities to delete unnecessary files from the file system without corrupting any kind of indexing that the app does on these files.

If I go to the My Scores tab, there is a list of file names. Some of the names are just naked file names like jfakebk.pdf, which conform to the index codes. Many others have a prefix that appears to be a timestamp or other serial number like 221227-233025120-jfakebk.pdf. What is the difference between these two versions of a file, and can one of them be safely deleted to reclaim space?

If I connect the tablet to a PC and view the file system, I see a lot of files that are not shown in the My Scores view of the app. For example, I have a custom book with a custom index that I have uploaded more than once. It appears only once in the app, but in the file system it appears that all versions are kept, with the timestamp prefix as shown above. Can the prior versions be safely deleted to reclaim space?

I also have one or two files that I loaded but the names were wrong so they did not match the pre-loaded index. I made the correction and re-loaded but the original (useless) files are still there. I assume I can delete those.

In addition, it appears that every time I have exported a set list as a PDF file of charts, that file is also kept in the file system even if the actual set list that it was generated from has been deleted (such as set_BSQ rehearse.pdf). If I no longer need these set list export files, can these files be safely deleted?

Thanks,

221227-233025120-jfakebk.pdf
This is a backup file created on 12/27/2022 at 11:30pm. You can delete these backup files if you don't need them. Any set list that you exported that generated a PDF file, you can delete.
