Score name sometimes lost

Post by spinality »

I have a frequent problem that perhaps you can help identify. Some PDFs in My Scores work normally in all respects, except for the following strange behavior.

1. The name appears in Set Manager as <name>.pdf rather than <name> (in this case, Brigas Nunca Mais.pdf)

2. If I start to rename the song, the system thinks that the name is 0.

3. Exporting a set list containing one of these 'zero' names, WITHOUT "include songs as pdf attachments," exports the names as shown in Set Manager, i.e. with <name>.pdf. However, exporting the set list WITH songs as pdf attachments exports the name as the digit zero.

4. If I search for this song in Set manager and select "sets" then some of the entries have what look to me like errors with double vertical bars (but perhaps these are correct).

The files that have this behavior come from a variety of sources. Many are pdfs generated by MuseScore. Others are scanned images, converted to PDF by MacOS or via other tools. They are sometimes transferred via Finder, sometimes via Dropbox.

In the past, I have tried deleting and reloading the files that have this naming anomaly, and of course I've often refreshed My Scores. However, the behavior persists. I know this isn't a lot to go on, but are you aware of any situations that would cause a file's name to be corrupted, either in My Scores or in a set list?

Would it help if I a) Delete all my files and reload everything? b) Delete some file(s) that you use internally (e.g. "filelist") to force them to be rebuilt?

Thanks if you have any suggestions. I have able to work around this, but it has been a minor issue for a long time.

We have tracked down the source of this problem and it will be fixed in version 10.8.

Wow! Thank you very much. (BTW this was the issue that led to my earlier question about “.pdf” not always getting stripped from filenames.)

This change was a big help. FYI, those files now always come into the set list with ‘.pdf’ appended. Also, sorting such a set list puts all those tunes at the top of the list.

I fix this by renaming each such entry to remove the ‘.pdf’ which then saves an edited name; the titles sort correctly after the renames. This is ok, although it does take a few minutes on each set list. But this process confuses my less nerdy bandmates.

Just in case you weren’t aware of this.
