I've been researching all the iPad music readers....particularly the ones most useful to giging musicians.

One feature that seems to be missing from all of these "PDF-reader" type apps is a way to "write your own chart" within the app itself. For example...iRealBook has a nice feature where you can write out chord charts in a "quick and dirty" fashion, then save it to the library.

How difficult would implementing something like this be in iGigBook? i.e. - write a chart...then save it as a PDF into the exisiting library? I guess you'd need to add some kind of PDF distiller (as well as the interface to actually write the tune)?

Food for thought. iRealBook is great for remembering changes of tunes...but apps like iGigBook will always be useful for storing/organizing actual sheet music. If someone could blend the two.....bingo!

Well I can definitely see the benefit of being able to create a chart on the fly and having transposable charts. What you may not know is that I am also the creator of www.realbook.us which was the first web site to offer transposable chord charts with midi playback, that was 7 years ago, before the advent of the iPhone.

We have a chart rendering engine that we are refining that will eventually make it's way into iGigBook. Keep your eye out for version 2.

My friend has the iphone version and apparently on hers, she's able to create chord charts on that. Please don't tell me I have to buy that version too on my ipad to create a chord chart.... will we finally be seeing the chord chart creator you mentioned back in may 2011? Please add this function - it would be a dream app if it could do this too.

If you're friend is using iGigBook Mobile which has less features than iGigBook, there is no chart creating capability. There are transposable chord charts in both iGigBook Mobile and iGigBook, over 1,000 of them. If you select the item titled "Jazz Chord Charts - Transpose" from the book list view you will be able to access them. A lot has been done in 2 years, over 30 updates, meaning the app your using for the first time today has been vastly improved from 2 years ago.

Sorry still no chord chart creator, but there are still more versions to come.

Oh daym...... She has iRealb - that's the app with the chord chart creator... Do you know what time frame I'm looking at before a chord chart creator? Weeks? Months?

I can't really say when. It may actually be another app dedicated to that function.
