Break down of IGigBook since iOS 8
Since using iOS 8 (and iOS 8.01) iGigBook shuts down witout any visible reason. That is extremely annoying, since it happened several times during a live gig! I never had this problem on iOS 7.
This fault happens on both of my iPads: iPad 2 as well as on iPad4.
Are you working on an improvement? Or is there a way to fix the bug?
Sincerely
Axel

if the app is doing nothing i.e. you're not interacting with it in any way, it means that none of the code that we have written is being executed. For some reason iOS 8 is closing apps seemingly arbitrarily. You can try turning off "Background App Refresh" in general settings and also make sure no other apps are suspended when using iGigBook during a live gig.AxelGrunewald wrote:Since using iOS 8 (and iOS 8.01) iGigBook shuts down witout any visible reason. Re: Break down of IGigBook since iOS 8
Thank you for your fast reply. Unfortunately the same thing happened today, despite regarding your recommendations!
I had no other app running in the background, background activities where switched to "not allowed", and still iGigBook went totally off while I was not touching anything but starring at my leadsheet...
Is there any further hint you can give? Thank you

Shut down of iGigBook during performance!
Since using iOS 8 (and 8.1) iGigBook shuts down witout any visible reason, even when there is no other programm running, screen saver and background activity are switched to an "off" position. That is extremely annoying, since it happened several times during a live gig! I never had this problem on iOS 7.

I had the same question before and you finished the post with "resolved" - the problem unfortunately was not resolved.
If you feel iGig is not the cause for the above quoted malfunction, then please contact Apple, since iGigBook totally looses its value for musicians if the problem is not resolved.
Sincerely
Axel

In my post above I refer to a specific setting "Background App Refresh", you refer to a setting called "background activity". If the setting you're referring is the same one that I'm referring to and you turned that off, there isn't much more I can do for you about this, however if this is a different setting, try turning off the setting that I am referring to and see if that makes a difference.

We both meant the same setting. The difference was due to translation from german into english language.Phil Smith wrote:In my post above I refer to a specific setting "Background App Refresh", you refer to a setting called "background activity". If you think iGigBook is not the cause of the problem, I urge you to check with Apple, since the problem only occures with iGigBook (not iRealPro for ex) and it occures on iPad 2 and iPad4 and it did not happen before with iOS7 !!

Re: Break down of IGigBook since iOS 8
I was able to reproduce the mysterious app closing with iOS 8, an iPad 2 and the "Background App Refresh" enabled. I just updated the same iPad 2 to iOS 8.1 today, enabled "Background App Refresh", opened up a chart and then went to a rehearsal. 5 and a half hours later the chart is still displaying on the iPad. I can't say for sure that iOS 8.1 will resolve this for you, but I would expect it's worth a try.

Re: Break down of IGigBook since iOS 8
Unfortunately the problem still persists despite uploading IOS 8.1.1.
I am pretty convinced, that this is an Apple problem since friends of mine as well as myself using to different ipads have the same problem not only with iGIgBook but also with other apps. But with no other app i am going on stage! With iGig I did! But recently I have to print out musicsheets again instead of using iGig. Very bad support from Apple....

Re: Break down of IGigBook since iOS 8
I would make sure that no other apps are suspended while running iGigBook and that you have adequate free space on your device i.e. less than 85% full. For example, my iPad IV has a Capacity of 13.3 GB and I have 2.3 GB available.

Re: Break down of IGigBook since iOS 8
I can second the finding that the app spontaneously closes for no apparent reason. Never happened on IOS 7. It has happened several times I have noticed.
I have a iPad 4, 32g, 8 gigs free, the background app refresh was already turned off.
I will make sure I have a clean system tonight before the gig starts, This potentially is a big deal. I'm a flute player and it's a two hand instrument.
Thanks in advance.
