Export an index

So if I understand things correctly, an “index” is basically a list of song titles (and composers possibly) and page numbers.

Is there a way to export an index? There are errors in the existing index for certain fake books (e.g. Firehouse) and I would like to export a csv file with the existing index, make the corrections, then reload the index using the bulk upload feature.

If you are asking if you can export the indexes we offer, the answer is: No you cannot.

If you think there’s an error in our indexes, tell us what the error is an we can correct it.

There is no index export feature in the app or in the Content Manager. The assumption being made is that you already have a copy of your data.

"Blues My Naughty Sweetie" does appear in the list of song titles in "The Firehouse Jazz Band Fake Book".

Dear Phil,

Thanks for sending the screen shot. I was mistaken, I was looking at a different Firehouse index that was shared with me that had this song missing.

My main point is that it would be very useful if index data could be exported from iGigBook as a CSV file. I think this should be added to the software.

Going back to the Firehouse book -- I went back and now I think I am looking at the Firehouse index provided by iGigBook.

Here are a few of the problems with the built-in FIrehouse index:

(1) "Blues My Naughty Sweetie" points to pdf page 167. The next song in the book is "Struttin With Some BBQ", and the index for this song points to pdf page 168. But "Blues My Naughty Sweetie" is actually a two page song. So if you scan the book in page by page, there is no way to get both pages of "Blues My Naughty Sweetie" to appear, and everything afterwards gets messed up.

(2) Same thing with "New Orleans (Hoagy's)". The index for this song points to page 84. This is a two page song, but the next song in the book is "Oh Baby" and the index for this song points to page 85, so there's no way to get things to sync up unless you leave out one page of "New Orleans (Hoagy's)".

(3) Same thing on "From Monday On". The index for this song points to page 268. This is a two page song, but the next song in the book is "Find Out What They Like", which points to page 269.

I stopped looking for these errors at page 269, the book is over 700 pages, so I suspect there are other errors.

The ability to export the index would be most useful. This way errors could be corrected and then the user could perform a "bulk upload" to make sure things were in sync.

You can create your own index for this PDF which represents an anomaly since the numbers on the page do not correspond to page numbers. Floating around the internet are many versions of this PDF. The one we created the index from (11 years ago) only has the second page for "Blues My Naughty Sweetie" not the first page, similar thing with "New Orleans", the PDF has the first page but not the second.

If you have a complete PDF copy of "The Firehouse Jazz Band Fake Book", you're in luck because no one else does. A similar situation exists for the "Great Gig Book" though we do provide a link for the PDF that the index matches.

To reiterate "The Firehouse Jazz Band Fake Book" is an outlier as is the "Great Gig Book".
