Real Book Vol. 1 6th Edition - RESOLVED

Post by SteveLauritzJazz »

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this post. Your forum wouldn't accept my username/password used to register the product, and then there's the locks on most of the posts.

Ok, I just bought iGigBook, got several pdf files loaded and renamed properly so the indexes work (Great App!). I see index files listed for Real Book Vol 1 6th Edition as well as vol 2 and 3. My problem is finding these in pdf format. I've been to Hal Leonard, Kindle, iBooks, etc. and they don't have it. No one legitimate seems to offer it, for sale or otherwise.

You've created the index, so you must have a PDF of the 6th edition. How can I get this, really?

Thanks,

Steve

The majority of the indexes are created from the actual physical copy of the book. We don't need a PDF to create an index for one. The Real Book 6th Edition is available on a CD ROM.

If you're having trouble with your log in, you can retrieve your credentials by using the lost password feature at http://www.igigbook.com. If you use the password reset feature on this board you will then have two passwords, one for the board and one for http://my.igigbook.com.

The CD available from Hal Leonard contains individual PDF files, one for each song, and the files are named 12345.pdf for example. I haven't figured out how I can make this work for me.

You can use any one of numerous free PDF tools to combine all of the pages into a single PDF.

In theory this would work. The problem is sorting the 400 +- pages. The PDF files from Hal Leonard are not named in a sorted order. The use an HTML index to reference the songs by name. I could use the index to locate each subsequent song in order, rename it so it collates correctly, consolidate the PDFs into one PDF, and import into iGigBook, but really...is this the amount of effort everyone expects for one of four volumes in order to use it in your application? There's got to be a better solution...

I like this software; it works well with books that are available, just not with the books I really need, which are the latest versions.

Can you send the HTML index to help [at] igigbook.com, so that we can take a look at it?
