Two Small Suggestions

Post by Chuck Butler »

Hi,

I've been using iGigBook for a long time, and it's great. Mostly I use it to create my own indexed books for various acts I work with. I have two suggestions--and forgive me if there is already functionality to deal with these requests:

1. I wish we could have an alternate "List" view for the Book List. When you have a lot of indexed books, it can take a while to scroll through all the large book icons (with tiny text beneath) to find the book you want in the heat of the moment. I'd prefer the *option* to see a more traditional list view, in alphabetical order and bolder/bigger text, with either a much smaller preview pic of the pdf in line, or no pic at all.

2. My biggest frustration with iGigBook has always been trying to find the pdf for a published book that matches your existing indexing. I understand that you don't want to encourage copyright violation (bravo!), but couldn't you provide links to one or more sites where each of the books you've indexed can be legitimately *purchased*--so that we know we'll be adding the pdf that matches your indexing? It's so great when we have the right "match," and so frustrating when we don't.

Thanks for creating and supporting an excellent and very useful application!

1. There's a setting titled "Show Book List As Icons", the default is true, set it to false to view as a text list.

2. The overwhelming number of indexes provided are built from the internal index of the book itself. One of the downsides of acquiring PDF files from the internet is that the PDF can have pages missing or in the wrong order. All of these issues can be resolved inside of iGigBook through the use of offsets are adding, removing or rearranging pages using the PDF editing features.
