I noticed an annoying behavior change several months ago. Not sure if it’s related to an iPadOS update, or something in igigbook. I first enter a series of normal annotations, which look correct on screen. Then, after hitting the save icon, many of the small strokes vanish such as crossbars on E or F, dots on I, strokes on sharp symbols. I imagine it has to do with iPadOS removing unintended noise, such as hand touch artifacts. This problem was not present before; I use annotation extensively. I was very aware when it first started. I use a recent Apple-brand pencil on an iPad Pro. Again, it’s not that the pencil isn’t being recorded. The strokes are all there, until I hit the save icon. The problem may be more common on the top 20% of the page. (I sometimes think this is the case, but then other times it doesn’t seem to be.)
My fear is that it’s some Apple change, but I haven’t seen similar behavior in other contexts. Has anybody else experienced this? Any suggestions for how to reduce the frequency? I haven’t found any pencil settings or other helpful mechanisms that might be affecting it, but it’s easier to miss features in the accessibility pages.

I will start trying to collect these. It’s challenging because by the time I observe the “after” it’s too late to get the “before.” I’ll need to start grabbing a screenshot before each save. I thought I’d first ask if this were something you already knew about.
I’ll follow up with an example when I can capture it.

Here is an example. The initial edit:
After save, where a few E, F, and A crossbars vanish on the top line. In this case the lower line was unaffected but that varies.

I didn’t save it. I will try to recreate an example and send the images plus .idraw file.

Thanks for those files. I see the before and after images, however this is not something we can reproduce here using any version of iOS.

As I feared. It could be some combination of Apple software updates and the particular Apple hardware in use. I’m guessing it might be involved with the cleanup of hand-touch artifacts. Thanks for looking.Phil Smith wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2026 11:29 am Thanks for those files. If I find any other clues I’ll pass them along.
