Set list emails failing

Post by spinality »

I’ve suddenly started having problems exporting all set lists via email.

They export cleanly by doing file export via AirDrop, or by saving to Dropbox. However, the email export fails with an error pop-up that says “file can’t be attached” and “the file …<name>.igbset can’t be sent as an attachment”. This coincides with warning messages I’ve started seeing in Dropbox when transferring set lists that way, stating that the igbset extension is invalid.

I’ve tried this on numerous set lists, including small test list with just a couple of entries.

Have you seen anything like this? I am running the current version on the current iPadOS release. I’m configured with Gmail rather than Apple Mail.

I will continue to experiment and see if I can provide anything more concrete. But perhaps you’re already aware of something having changed?

Thanks for looking.

This would be a problem with iPadOS, meaning Apple is adding restrictions to what can or cannot be attached to an email.

What version of iPadOS is this?

iPadOS 26.5. Dropbox saw the XML content and felt that the igbset extension was a problem. This could suggest UTI registration is getting more scrutiny by the mail carriers. This would kind of make sense based on all the other security hurdles they’ve started putting in my way.

I’m able to work around by using Dropbox as an intermediary, but if this is a change in Apple Mail and/or Gmail, I expect you’ll be hearing more comments.

Update: it’s working normally again. I think that a problem developed with the gmail-to-Apple Mail configuration. As we know those connections sometimes mysteriously go out of sync. I reset the whole accounts picture and the problem ended. Still not sure about why Dropbox was complaining about .igbset but that doesn’t matter. Thanks for looking at it.
