Can't bulk upload index entries with no composer info

I'm trying to bulk upload an index.
The problem is I don't have composer info for the entries.

I left them blank but th bulk uploaded doesn't like that.
There are 682 entries, so I really don't want to spend then time figuring out who wrote what and entering all of them in.
What can I do?

The bulk upload is not going to work for you if you do not include composer data, every field must have data.

Ok- looks like a pain but I can either enter them all in- for do a mass 'find & replace'.

I just entered a bunch in and uploaded.
Then did a change and uploaded again- now I have two copies of each tune I've done.

Before I get too far- how can I edit or delete an index I've bulk uploaded?

Well, I figured out a way to fix it (don't know if it is the best way).

I sorted by title for the 'online' song info.
I then deleted the extra copy. That took me a bit- but there were not THAT many.

Since I'm bulk uploading, it would be easier if I could have deleted all at once- then started over.
Perhaps there was a way- but I didn't see it.

Your first step should be to proof your data thoroughly to minimize corrections that you made need to make. After you have proofed your data and performed the bulk upload, you can tweak individual entires using the Content Manager.

For past upload users, note that this behavior has changed. Previously, it was possible to have an empty composer field. (That's how all my prior uploads were prepared; it was easy for me to create indices by extracting title and page data, but it was not easy to extract composer info.) As a solution, consider listing "unknown" as the composer.

If you really shoot yourself in the foot (e.g. by uploading three times ) you have the option of deleting the book entirely and starting from scratch. Phil is very critical of folks doing multiple uploads; but in my case, where a book's contents are sometimes evolving over the course of weeks or months, as people add material, insert pages, reorganize sections, etc., it's sometimes impossible to avoid the need for a bulk replacement. That doesn't reduce the value of good 19th century proofreading however.
