Personal Index some wrong results

Post by leerun »

In a personal index does the physical page number have to be the same as the format page number? Some of my songs
are a little out of alphabetical order. Does the Bulk Uploader place them in alphabetical order, thus changing the
physical page number?
I ask this because I'm searching for reasons why I'm still getting wrong results with some songs.

All indexes appear in alphabetical order on the device. The page number has nothing to do with the alphabetical order, the page number indicates where in the PDF to find the page for the song title selected. If you're getting wrong results with some songs, meaning you select the song title and a different song appears that means you have indicated the wrong page number for that song.

I'm sorry Phil, but I can't find the problem. If I understand you correctly a song should go to the page number indicated in the format regardless of it's
position alphabetically, because the physical page number has nothing to do with the alphabetical order. It just displays the titles alphabetically.
If this is true I should not have a problem, because the format page numbers are arranged numerically and are correct.
All of my problems occur in the following example:

"I Can't Get Started C",189,1,"x,x"
"I Can't Give You Anything But Love F",190,1,"x,x"
"I Didn't Know What Time It Was F",191,1,"x,x"
"I Got A Women F",192,1,"x,x"
"I Got It Bad F",193,1,"x,x"
"I Had The Craziest Dream C",194,1,"x,x"
"I Hadn't Anyone Till You F",195,1,"x,x"
"I Laughed At Love C",196,1,"x,x"
"I Love You Porgy F",197,1,"x,x"
"I Only Have Eyes For You C",198,1,"x,x"
"I Remember You F",199,1,"x,x"
"I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus C",200,1,"x,x"
"I Should Care C",201,1,"x,x"
"I Thought About You F",202,1,"x,x"
"I Wanna Be Around Bb",203,1,"x,x"
"I Want To Be Happy C",204,1,"x,x"
"I Want To Run To You",205,1,"x,x"
"I Will Wait For You",206,1,"x,x"
"I Wish You Love Eb",207,1,"x,x"
"I'll Be Home For Christmas Bb",208,1,"x,x"
"I'll Be Seeing You C",209,1,"x,x"
"I'll Close My Eyes F",210,1,"x,x"
"I'll Never Stop Loving You C",211,1,"x,x"
"I'll Remember You F",212,1,"x,x"
"I'm Beginning To See The Light Bb",213,1,"x,x"
"I'm Coming Virginia F",214,1,"x,x"
"I'm In The Mood For Love C",215,1,"x,x"
"I'm Just A Lucky So and So C",216,1,"x,x"
"I'm Through With Love F",217,1,"x,x"
"I've Got A Crush On You C",218,2,"x,x"
"I've Got A Crush pg 2",219,1,"x,x"
"I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm",220,1,"x,x"
"I've Got The World On A String F",221,1,"x,x"
"I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face Eb",222,1,"x,x"
"Ice Castles F",223,1,"x,x"
"I Cried For You F",224,1,"x,x"

Everything after "I Wish You Love" goes to the wrong song. The apostrophe seems to cause the problem.
Why doesn't "I'll Be Home for Christmas" come after "I Laughed at Love" ?
Does the apostrophe change the alphabetizing rules?
Why doesn't "Ice Castles" and "I Cried for You" come after "I Can't give you Anything But Love" ?
If the physical page number has nothing to do with the alphabetical order and my formated page numbers are correct
I don't know what to change.

From the Book List view select your custom book then select the song title "I Wish You Love" which according to you should display the sheet music for that tune. Tap the bottom of the screen to display the next page in your PDF. This page should display "I'll Be Home For Christmas", if it doesn't, that's your problem right there, the index does not match the PDF. According to the index data you created, the next page after "I Wish You Love" is "I'll Be Home For Christmas" and if the PDF doesn't reflect this, the index you created is wrong.
"I Wish You Love Eb",207,1,"x,x"
"I'll Be Home For Christmas Bb",208,1,"x,x"

Phil, "I'll be home for Christrmas" is 208 in my pdf. I checked my index in Content Manager and it's listed as 208 there also, but it goes to
"Ice Castles" which is 223 in both the pdf and the index. I'm very confused.

Phil, I think I have found the problem. Even though the index page number and the pdf page number match, I believe I may have used an earlier copy
of the pdf file. I'm checking that now but i believe that will prove true. If it is I will have to delete this index and do it over.
Thanks for your help.

It's going to be easier to just use the correct PDF or put the pages of the PDF in the correct order.

Phil, I have somehow created duplicate song titles AGAIN. I corrected my PDF file and index to match up, synced and got duplicate titles.
I deactivated the first PDF file. I started over by renaming the PDF, bulk uploaded the corrected index, synced, and now have three duplicated
song titles. I am so confused, I don't know where I'm going wrong in my sequence of events.
I thought I had deleted the first PDF (encorefb) in Itunes. But I see it is still in My Scores with a string of numbers in front of it. I renamed
that PDF to aencorefb and it's there also ???

There should be no mystery why you have duplicate song entries, you are creating them, by bulk uploading the same data to the same book index. If you don't want duplicate entries don't do that. Here is the previous topic that you created where we covered that:

To have success with this app you have to be aware of what you are doing and of the content that you are providing to the app. You have to be sure that the book that you have matches the index that you created. If you have multiple versions of the PDF with pages arranged differently or with different songs, you need to finalize all of that before you even begin to think about creating an index.

I have done what you just described. My new PDF matches my Index. I renamed it thinking it would be a new PDF entry. Apparently
my old PDF was still there even though I thought I deactivated it. What does the string of numbers befor a PDF mean in My Scores??
This is not a user friendly program. Maybe if you had a decent User's Guide people wouldn't have to bug you with so many stupid
questions!
Yes, I'm confused and with good reason. What I don't need is a lecture about how things shouldn't be a mystery. What I do need is some clear
instructions on how to clean this mess up.
